Witness Jack Kirby’s epic vision of The World That’s Coming!  A world where robotic friends come disassembled in wooden crates and have a nasty habit of exploding!  A world where the Super Rich can rent out entire cities for Crime Parties, or steal vast oceans using the mysterious properties of Atomic Power!

Kirby is famous for co-creating The Hulk, The Fantastic Four, and countless others, but those far out creations pale in comparison to the King’s vision when set loose solo.

The World That’s Coming is a world where heightened technology has lead to standing armies being outlawed, where peace can only be kept by the Mohawk-ed superman OMAC, who bowls over the enemies of order and freedom with the help of his sentient satellite comrade, Brother Eye.

These eight issues read like Philip K. Dick channeling William Blake while freaking the fuck out on acid cut with battery acid.  No, fuck that.  It’s lame when reviewers describe something as “X on crack” or whatever.  But how else can I implore you to read this awesome collection?  Perhaps I can threaten you physically? That seems a little…despotic, for my tastes, though…Look, I can’t make you do anything.  You’ll either check it out or you won’t.

Reader Comments:

It’s probably Kirby’s last really good work.  The Eternals are bland in comparison.  This one is totally nuts!
