I never would’ve predicted that when asked what my favorite Marvel comic is, I’d answer, “Why, it’s The Incredible Hercules, chap.” This is weird for three reasons:
 
1. Herc assumed the title mantle from The Incredible Hulk as of #113, when at the end of WORLD WAR HULK the Angry Green Giant got himself arrested and ended up miles below the surface in a special government hoosegow. At the time this move was looked at with confusion and caution… why not just give Herc his own #1 debut?
 
2. After such an unceremonious launch, who expected it to rock? Fast paced, funny and surprisingly smart, the creators have elevated Hercules from a third tier lout to heavy hitter in a mere five issues. After 40 years in Marvel Comics, Herc was written off by most as an occasional guest star. Not so!
 
3. I don’t use the word “chap”.

Currently: check out the adventures of Hercules as he and his sidekick, Amadeus Cho (the seventh smartest man in the world, even though he’s just a kid) team up with representative badasses from various pantheons of Gods to take down the deities of the invading alien Skrull race. See, if the Skrulls succeed in conquering the world, their pantheon of gods becomes dominant and supplants all others. Doesn’t that sound cool? Well, it is.

I am officially interested in this series now…
