THE MAN WHO LOVED BREASTS | by Robert Goodin, $4.00                           SULK | by Jeffrey Brown, $7.00

Indy publisher Top Shelf proves yet again, this week, why they’re one of the greats in the comic biz, with two stellar little books worthy of your attention. First up is THE MAN WHO LOVED BREASTS, by former Rugrats animator Robert Goodin. Spoiler warning—there’s boobs all over this one. But that’s not the main selling point. Goodin’s delicate linework and Ph.D. level storytelling elevate the tale of an Icarus-like man, who instead of the sun gets too immersed in his passion (um, boobs), and pays an unfortunate price for his myopic lifestyle. Really funny stuff, Goodin’s one to watch.

Also out this week from Top Shelf is SULK, Jeff rey Brown’s new ongoing designed for him to explore any genre jones he gets. I’ve always preferred Brown’s humor and spoof books (Bighead, Incredible Change-Bots) to his emo confessionals (Clumsy, Unlikely, etc.), so I was doubly pleased to hear about this new series. In issue one Brown brings back fan-favorite BIGHEAD, and amusingly runs him through all the super hero cliches—love, betrayal, death, team-ups and rebirth. Not in that order. I hope nobody else breaks Jeff rey Brown’s heart in the future, because I love these books and would prefer he focus his talents thisaway. And, he’s a nice guy, so be gentle, ladies.
