Listen up! Denali is playing a reunion. Wait, a “reunion”? They haven’t been gone that long. Have they? It’s only been 4 years!
The original line up of Maura Davis, Keely Davis, Cam DiNunzio and Jonathan Fuller have returned to Richmond with their emotionally jarring sound. Prepare to be washed over by shimmering guitars, haunting vocals, and a gentle piano’s pulse. Denali’s “quiet to loud” versatility is effortless and will no doubt hypnotize fans at The National into a swaying sea of humanity. It’s almost shocking when individual songs seem to burn out after they’ve run their course of a few minutes. Your head is left nodding. What just happened? Do it again!
Feel lucky to be given another opportunity to relive this incarnation. Their work has helped define a great time for music coming out of Richmond and as with many of my faves, that moment has been fondly anchored by Denali.
