Much like my love life, the PSP hasn’t seen much action lately, but if you can open your heart to Atlus and Sting’s engaging strategy role-playing video game Yggdra Union: We’ll Never Fight Alone, you might find another reason for owning the PSP other than watching cheap UMD movies.
 
System owners know that the PSP’s library is already overrun with strategy RPG games, so what does Yggdra Union bring to the table?  As a redux of a 2006 Game Boy Advance title, the PSP version adds sharper graphics, all-new missions, playable characters and difficulty options.
 
While most video game princesses sit around on their Hilary Duffs waiting to be rescued, Yggdra Yuril Artwaltz, the game’s title character, doesn’t mind jumping right into the fray.  As the last surviving member of the royal family of Fantasinia, she rallies an army of troops against the Empire of Bronquia to free her kingdom.
 
Troop movements, weapon types and abilities are determined by using cards.  The card-based game play forces you to plan out your moves since using the wrong one can result in certain death.
 
If you like card games such as Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh but don’t want to be caught dead with a deck in your hands, this game is right up your alley.  Assuming you can figure out how to pronounce the title when you ask for it at your local retailer, Yggdra Union is available for $39.99 MSRP.
