I need to have my head examined.  The holiday season is upon us now and brand-new video games are coming out by the truckload every week, but all I want to do is play Pac-Man. 
 
I’d bet good money that many of you out there do, too.  If you’ve still got a jones for directing a half-eaten yellow pizza through a cramped, ghost-filled maze and an Xbox 360, I suggest that you pick up Namco-Bandai’s Namco Museum Virtual Arcade.
 
Old-school arcade favorites such as Dig-Dug, Galaxian, Mappy and Ms. Pac-Man have been keeping the lights on at Namco-Bandai for decades, and they’re all included. Thankfully, the publisher also dug into the crates to add other rarely seen arcade titles to this compilation such as Baraduke, Grobda, King & Balloon and Metro-Cross.
 
My personal obscure pick is Galaga ’88, a revision that successfully updates Galaga, one of the most popular shoot-‘em-up games of all time, with beautiful graphics, lightning-fast game play and a decent challenge.
 
Die-hard gamers might complain that they’ve already downloaded the updated versions from Xbox Live, but they’ll kick themselves once they realize they got swindled. 
 
Stellar Live leaderboard-enabled updates such as Galaga Legions, Mr. Driller Online and Pac-Man Championship Edition are all included on this disc, which makes the price even more attractive than downloading the individual titles from Xbox Live. 
 
Namco Museum Virtual Arcade is available for the Xbox 360 for the budget price of $29.99.
