KIDDIE RECORDS
http://www.kiddierecords.com/
This is one site that will keep you coming back for more. Featuring children’s records from the mid-’40s to the early 1950s, Kiddie Records not only posts high quality mp3 transfers from the original, impossible to find vinyl sources but the site also includes high resolution jpegs of each release that they champion. The amount of time and effort that must have went into each of these posts is unimaginable and weather you are a fan of the great American graphic art sensibilities or a lover of song tales of old, you will thanking your lucky stars that someone went through all that trouble to rescue these priceless relics for the digital age.

GORILLA VS BEAR
http://gorillavsbear.blogspot.com/
A ridiculously comprehensive blog dedicated to exposing the best in 21st century sound creation, Gorilla Vs Bear is mandatory listening and reading for those who need a nuanced hand to guide them through the overwhelming onslaught of musical options available to anyone with an Internet connection. From the laptop tropicalia electro punk of San Francisco sensations Lemonade to the mysterious dreamy balladry of The Department of Eagles, this site always exposes you to sounds of tomorrow today.

DRUNK SOUNDS
http://drunksongs.blogspot.com/
This Brazilian labor of love intoxicates the ear with a constant barrage classic punk (The Cro-Mags, “Best Wishes”, Kraut, “Complete Recordings”, Etc.), reggae interpretations of Radiohead (Radiodread: “Easy Star All Stars”) and gritty, modern-day country (Hank Williams the Third: “Lovesick, Broke & Driftin”). Over a million people have stopped by here for their audio shots of whiskey and for good reason. Getting drunk on music is fun.

LITTLE HITS
http://www.littlehits.com/blog/
This essential site posts tunes from The Dickies (the deliriously catchy, “Rosemary” from the their 1983 EP, “Stukas Over Disneyland”) Das Furlines (the polka infused bubblegum of, “Nichts Nein Frankenstein”) and Neil Innes (the Monty Python parody of 1960s Beatles screaming teenage girl pop, “I Must Be In Love”). Everything they post seems to celebrate the absurd in the, “it’s got a good beat and it’s easy to dance to” tradition that made Dick Clark a very famous man. Little Hits is good musical reminder to not take the world too seriously.

FUFU STEW
http://fufustew.wordpress.com/
If funk, soul or R&B is your thing, Fufu Stew has a got a whole heap of vintage and current sounds for you to feed your hungry eardrums. His podcasts celebrate 1960s soul jazz, (Brother Jack McDuff’s Hammond driven instrumental, “Black Is”), New Orleans funk (the nasty, deep in the pocket groove of The Meters tune, “Dry Spell”), ’70s Latin disco (Sergio Mendes & the New Brazil 77’s take on Bob Dylan’s, “Mozambique”) and everything danceable in-between. Do yourself a favor and subscribe to these indispensable programs at your soonest convenience. Trust me, you don’t want to miss a single episode.

UNPLEASANT
http://www.unpleasant.org/
This site is chock full of music that 9 out of 10 people on planet earth would find thoroughly unpleasant. But, if you are like me, music that has the power to make top 40 lovers cringe is the music I want to hear most. Take Harold Libby’s out of tune warble of a voice on the Christian hula inspired spiritual, “God’s Big Tears” for example. One listen to that and even the most ardent follower of Jesus would question the existence of a heavenly father. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. There are enough audio oddities, disturbing children ditties and disco made by the elderly on this wondrous site to befuddle and annoy a million American Idol fans. Yes, my friends, this is the good stuff.             —CHRIS BOPST

Thank you for the shoutout. Amazingly enough, I never knew that the Sergio Mendes tune was a Bob Dylan cover. I learn something new every day smile

Peace and blessings,
Vincent the Soul Chef
